Exploring West Seattle – The Red Cup Espresso & Drive Thru

seattle coffee shops - west seattle coffee shops

Another in a series exploring West Seattle.

You know you’re in West Seattle when you see a giant five-foot red coffee cup hanging overhead as you walk down California Avenue.

In a recent visit to the Red Cup Espresso, a coffee shop, and drive-thru, I met owners Samir and Breanna. The friendly couple has enjoyed building community relationships with their customers over the last three years.

Samir previously worked at the café as a barista before buying it from the previous owners – a move he continues to enjoy. Apparently, the café used to be called “In and Out Espresso”, until the burger giant In & Out told them to stop.

The Red Cup Espresso serves friendly cups of locally roasted coffee to locals via their drive-thru coffee stand, but many customers come in to chat. That’s what I ended up doing. It’s always great to walk into a cafe where you feel welcomed and wanted. (Thanks Samir and Breanna!)

As you drive along California Avenue you won’t miss the big red cup above your head. If you are in a hurry you can just get their delicious coffee in the drive-thru, but if you have time I suggest you checking out this cosy little place full of warm chatter and coffee aroma.

If you haven’t been – come on by. Red Cup Espresso is a great place to come and get a tasty coffee, enjoy a comfortable place place to sit awhile, and meet up with friends and neighbors. They also serve other beverages including Italian sodas, and Hi 5 pastries. If there was ever a drive-thru coffee stand to buy, I’d choose this one. It’s centrally located. Easy to walk up to, and can be used as a regular coffee shop.
