Seattle Coffee and Bakeries: Le Fournil Bakery in East Lake

I might not be able to boast that I live in Paris, France, but I can say that I’m a regular at Le Fournil Bakery, a superb French bakery just at the edge of East Lake, near the University Bridge.

Le Fournil brings all the excellent baking you would expect to find at a Parisian bakery right here against Lake Union’s shore.

There is no doubt that I simply love this place. Not only can you grab yourself an excellent espresso, but you can also walk away with some of the best French baking Seattle has to offer.

If you haven’t been here, then I would certainly put this on your list of bakeries to try in the area… Croissants. I love them. Fruit tarts. I love them. Baguettes. I love them. I simply love this place.

What Goes Better With Coffee?

What’s coffee without dessert, right? While they don’t pretend to be the best coffee place in town, they are among the top bakeries here.

The line at lunch can be pretty long, so plan ahead if you’re visiting between 11am and 1pm. They serve a number of great soups and sandwiches and drinks if you’re not up for getting anything sweet.

Many small cafes and restaurants around town offer Le Fournil’s baked items, but like all good things, you have to go directly to the source. It’s a family-friendly bakery that offers competitive prices on their loafs of breads, tarts and lunches. The baristas are helpful and cater to your culinary wishes if you are particular of any offerings.

The good thing about Le Fournil is that they offer breakfast or lunch catering options for various events and meetings as well as various boxed lunches. It’s also a great idea if you or your guests follow vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diet.

Rated Top Among Seattle’s Bakeries

While you might be able to spend a few minutes on your computer, it’s not quite the place to take work to – there are too many distractions, including the smell and view of wonderfully made fresh bread and pastries. Since you’re in the area, why not stop by the Flower Lady’s flower shop or walk across the University Bridge and watch boaters sail by or the UW crew team practice on Lake Union?

If you’re ever feeling down that you’re not cruising near the banks of the Seine River or catching a show at the Moulin Rouge, simply head over to Le Fournil Bakery. You will not be disappointed.
