A Seattle Coffee Break at Wheelhouse Coffee

Wheelhouse Coffee to be reopened at a new location soon.

Seattle’s a great town. It’s my kinda town. But even in the midst of work or traveling between points A and B, Seattle can get busy, seem crowded, and at times, overwhelming.

While I do take the time to enjoy Seattle’s parks, hikes, and the natural beauty that surrounds it, I can’t always get such a break during the week.

That leads me to Wheelhouse Coffee – situated almost exactly between Pike’s Place Market and South Lake Union’s shore – where I find myself regularly. With offices towering above it, the area is pretty much cubicle-central – filled with Amazon employees and other businesses.

Wheelhouse Coffee

I stopped in this week to this indie café owned and operated by the good folks over at Lighthouse Coffee Roasters.

Wheelhouse Coffee serves as a good place to re-fuel, people watch, and get a good conversation in with the friendly baristas that work there.

The coffee is excellent and the space is beautiful.

In fact, I’d go ahead and call the place sleek but without the pretentiousness, that word may inspire. No, in fact, Wheelhouse Coffee offers a down-to-earth feel with genuine people working behind the bar.

With its extra-large windows, outdoor seating, and comfortable bar stools, Wheelhouse Coffee is a sweet little spot for a coffee break (The Amazonians know this too). When it’s warm I like to sit outside and sip my coffee watching the Amazonians rush to their offices.

Wheelhouse offers their own fresh baked foods, beer, wine, and of course their own locally roasted coffee. It’s a very comfortable little cafe with it’s unique vibe. I love to come back here for their wonderful espresso shots and delicious pastries.

So, what is the ultimate coffee break?

For me, the ultimate coffee break would be the one you didn’t have to return back to work from – but of course, that’s not going to happen.

Perhaps the second best option: Wheelhouse Coffee – where you’re able to put the work that’s sitting on your desk on hold at least awhile.
