In no particular order, here are some great coffeehouses and cafes in West Seattle:
Bird on a Wire Coffee

Bird on a Wire is a local neighborhood favorite with great coffee and a sweet vibe. The baristas are friendly and make you feel right at home.
Cafe Fiore
2206 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116
Caffe Fiore in West Seattle is a beautiful café, with much love and care put into its operation. The baristas are always more than happy to make your coffee just the way you like it.
Freshy’s Coffee
2735 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116
If you want coffee and a sandwich, this funky little space to meet with friends, you’ll like Freshy’s. Also, a great place to study while you fill up on Victrola Espresso (the only place I know of in West Seattle where you can get Victrola beans)
Red Cup Espresso
4451 California Ave SW Seattle, WA 98116
Owned by friendly couple, Red Cup Espresso is your down home coffee drive thru. Well, it’s certainly not just a drive-thru – you can spend some time inside their cozy space too. The ambiance is perfect for studying, working, or chatting with your friends.
Admiral Bird
2600 California Ave SW Seattle, WA 98116
Part flower shop, full coffee bar, Admiral Bird provides a perfect place to perch and watch the traffic on California and Admiral. Super friendly baristas, great bay windows, and very good coffee – what more do you need?
Ampersand Coffee
2536 Alki Ave., SW Seattle, WA 98116
As one of my favorite coffee shops in West Seattle, Ampersand provides a great view of Seattle’s Alki Beach. Complete with excellent Seven Roasters coffee, friendly staff, and fresh cookies, you can camp on the outside patio (on a nice day), or stay inside to enjoy the view its large windows provide.
Alki Café

A local favorite for breakfast and coffee. Another great Alki Beach café with a view. If you haven’t been to West Seattle or Alki Beach, I recommend spending your morning here and swing by the Alki Cafe.
Hotwire Online Coffeehouse
4410 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116
Hotwire Online Coffeehouse is a great coffee spot in Seattle’s junction area. Their cozy outdoor patio is perfect for a sunny morning. If it’s raining head in to use their Vitamin D lighting while you work online – on one of their computers (Yup, people still need to use a computer every now and then and this is one of the few (if only) Seattle coffeehouse who offers use of their computers with a coffee drink purchase!)
Firefly Cafe & Creperie – Closed*

With amazing crepes, coffee, and service – Firefly Cafe is a great place to enjoy your morning or afternoon crepes. This cafe is a labor of love of Charrell, the owner, and it’s a great coffee gem on this side of town.
C&P Coffee Company

Situated in a former house, at C & P Coffee Company you kind of get the feeling you’re in a friendly neighbor’s home. Perch out in the front or back and bring a friend – there’s plenty of room.
Uptown Espresso – California Ave.
4301 SW. Edmunds St. Seattle, WA
All the Uptown Espressos that I’ve been to, have large spaces that are great when you want to meet up with study groups – The West Seattle’s Uptown Espresso is no different.
Diva Espresso – Closed*
4480 Fauntleroy Ave. SW, Seattle. (closed August 17, 2014)
Diva Espresso in West Seattle with deep red walls, impressive chandeliers, local art for sale, and friendly baristas. The property was recently sold and will be housing a new business (or businesses). After so many years in West Seattle, I thought they would get an honorary mention. (Here was our original post about Diva Espresso.)
Java Bean – Closed (Now The Shack Coffee)
Shack Coffee – 2920 Avalon Way SW, Seattle, WA
Now called Shack (Previously Java Bean). If you can find parking, you’ll be in great shape. New owners and a new vibe.
FiddleHead Coffee

I enjoy Fiddlehead’s comforting space and coffee offerings – it can also be a great place to grab breakfast too!
Cafe Ladro

Caffe Ladro is among Seattle’s top coffee roasters, so it’s great that they have a presence at this end of town.
Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe

If you are searching for a vegan breakfast or veggie lunch, Chaco Canyon will serve it up with an espresso.
Verite Coffee – Cupcake Royal

Tully’s Coffee – Closed

Tully’s Coffee on Alki is a popular spot for locals to sit and people watch.
